"A walk round Devon`s wind farm sites"by Christine Lovelock, the walk took place in May 20062008/9 update: Another wind power station passed in the beautiful and previously unspoilt area between Torrington and Morwenstow, despite growing understanding of the fact that the government's renewables policies are an expensive mistake that will increase fuel poverty. Torridge District Council approve Galsworthy Wind Farm. Mid Devon District Council vote unanimously to oppose Bickham Moor Latest threats: Bickleton, near Yelland and Fremington, overlooking Taw Estuary, 3 x 130 m (button not yet on map but site faces the Fullabrook one) Mullacott near Ilfracombe Brandis Corner near Holsworthy(4 x 125m) Chilla near Halwill Junction(15 x 400ft high) The aim of this walk was to raise awareness of the threat facing Devon. Since then, the threat is becoming reality for North Tawton, Morwenstow, and North Devon (Fullabrook area). There are also more wind farms planned in the Two Moors area, at Witheridge, at Galsworthy (between Torrington and Bradworthy) and Parkham, near Buck`s Cross. Goveton is also under threat again in South Devon. Click on the map for latest news at each location. ( You can also find North Devon news on www.savenorthdevon.com) To follow the walk, start at Brent Tor, follow the map with your cursor (click for links) and finish at Great Torrington.
