I am a painter, I use oils and
draw the figure with charcoal.
I spent years in New York City going to Cooper Union, helping to start the New York Studio School in the sixties, and then just lived there as an artist. I came to Vermont to paint and bought land here while it was very cheap. I show in NYC and Vermont, and see painting more as a calling than a business. Redstockings Artists was the name of our group, I've been composting, recycling and gardening organically for decades. Virginia Woolfe, Simone de Beauvoir are people I study as well as Piero della Francescha and John Constable. Most of the galleries I've shown in have been cooperative, ambitious ones. Bowery Gallery in Chelsea, NYC for example. I teach drawing and painting in the Vermont State College system, at Johnson State College two days a week as an adjunct professor. |
